In the fall of 2019, Marian decided to stop painting thangkas. Soon after, she started writing a number of chapters for a book about the Power of Symbolism in Tibetan Buddhism. She did this at the request of many students, Jewel Heart friends and family to create a reference work on the rich content of Buddha figures painted on canvas in the time that is left to me.
“I draw on the more than one hundred thangkas of various Buddhas that I have painted and digitized. My intention is to provide each thangka with a text with information about the Buddha in question, the symbols, attributes, etc. depicted with him or her. The whole thing thus becomes a clear reference work. It is my wish to pass on my knowledge and insight in this way. Not only to my thangka students, but to anyone, anywhere.”
It is a substantial book with images on beautiful paper, bound and with a hard cover.
